Site Safety Information

• First Aid Box: This is located in the main building (EDG) on the table directly ahead as the building is entered. There is also information about treating snake and spider bite.


• Fire Extinguishers: They are located in the main building (EDG) on the wall to the left before you enter the kitchen.

  It is advisable to leave the gate at the foot of Mt Kent unlocked while on site so that services can reach the site easily. If on-site alone, please notify USQ security on entering and leaving the site.


• Emergency procedures: Please make yourself familiar with these procedures.


• Emergency Generator:   In the event of power loss due to eg bushfire, an emergency generator is provided for limited use (lighting and water pump). A procedure needs to be carefully followed. However if it is safe to leave the site, do so and notify the emergency services rather than stay to fight a fire.


• Use of Laser Pointers:   A Fact Sheet provided by the Astronomical Society of Australia explains the care and also legal obligations involved in using these devices.
